Osumi Low Futon Bed

The Osumi Bed is a low-level design, available with optional Cocoloc Tatami Mats or as a simple frame only. It has a comfortable sleeping platform , which can be used with one of our Devon-made futon mattresses or with your own mattress. The Osumi is simple, combining practicality with contemporary design for that classic futon style.

The frame is manufactured from 100% European Redwood Pine, with a natural, untreated finish. It uses 8 extra strong redwood pine slats, as well as a central support bar with four sturdy legs to create extra stability and durability. The optional Traditional Tatami Mats feature a compressed rice straw natural filling, fitting neatly within the frame on top of the slatted platform. 

The Osumi combines this frame with one of our Devon-made futon mattresses. You can choose from one of three options: our traditional lambswool and wool felt mattress, our pocket FutoFlex sprung mattress or our Cocoloc firm futon mattress. Each one is upholstered in your choice of fabric and comes in the EU standard double size of 140cm by 200cm. Alternatively, you can buy the Osumi as a frame and/or tatami set only, using your own mattress.

Overall, this bed is perfect for smaller spaces due to its low-level design. The smaller headboard and footboard will fit comfortably into loft rooms and low-ceiling bedrooms, without compromising on style. 

IMPORTANT Note: The mattress size needed for the Osumi bed is the European size at 200 cm long. If you are buying a futon mattress from us it will be sized to fit, but if you are using a different mattress please ensure you get a 200 cm length.
